MERCEDES BENZ: E CLASS

The Mercedes Benz E Class is a German luxury four-door executive sedan or 2-door cabriolet. It is available with a number of engine specs ranging from four cylinders to 8 cylinders with petrol, diesel and hybrid variants.

The latest E class model is now equipped with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and the Mercedes 4matic all-wheel-drive system. The main competitors for the E series are the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 series.

As with all cars, regular servicing and maintenance needs to be carried out to ensure that you are driving a safe and reliable vehicle. Auto Studio are experts in all European cars and would love to ensure that your car is running at its best. Here are some common problems that you could encounter with your Mercedes E Class.

Turbine Speed Sensor

If you are experiencing harsh gear shifts, then there is a chance there could be a problem with your turbine speed sensor. Harsh gear shifts could include excessive revving before gear changes, or a loud clunky bang when shifting and can be an intermittent problem. Problems with your turbine speed sensor can also interfere with cruise control and cause your check engine light to become illuminated. If you have any concerns about your Mercedes, then book in with the experienced team at Auto Studio.

Crankshaft position sensor

Another common problem is with the Crankshaft Position Sensor. This can cause the check engine light to become illuminated, engine to stalling or trouble starting, along with engine spluttering and misfires. It is worth mentioning that a faulty Camshaft Position Sensor will have almost identical symptoms to this, if you have been experiencing any of these problems with your car, then the experienced mechanics at Auto studio can identify and fix the problem with your car.

Power steering pump

Common to fail in older E class models, but this is also a problem that can occur in any vehicle from time to time. A faulty power steering pump can cause whining noises when turning, or the steering wheel to feel slow or stiff. While it could be to do with your fluid levels, if you have had difficulty steering then we suggest booking in with our friendly team so we can investigate and make sure you’re driving a reliable and safe vehicle.

Differential Leak

Differential leaks (or Diff Leaks) can be another common problem in older models. This can produce a whirring or grinding noises if the fluid is too low, and is a problem that should be seen to as soon as possible to avoid major damage. Auto Studio are experts with Mercedes and European cars and would be happy to get your car back optimal performance if you are experiencing these issues.
