VW Amarok Brakes

Recently at Auto Studio a VW Amarok was brought in after the customer had experienced a spongy/soft brake pedal.

Symptoms:

  • Spongy/soft brake pedal

What can cause a spongy brake pedal?

The most common cause of a spongy brake pedal can be air in the brake lines. In this case, it was due to the caliper piston dislodging from the caliper housing as the vehicle had not been serviced in accordance with VW scheduled program allowing the brakes to completely wear out. (Figure 1).

How to fix a car with a spongy brake pedal?

The solution to this was to replace the brake discs, pads, caliper and brake fluid.
