Mercedes Benz: C-Class

The C-Class is one of the most popular sedan lines produced by Mercedes-Benz. Originally entering the market back in the early 90’s, the C-Class has continued to sell extremely well in Australia and around the world. Known for their well appointed luxury interiors, prestigious badge and comfortable ride, the C-Class competes with similar high quality German cars, the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4.

The Mercedes C-Class is built primarily in Germany, as well as the USA for their domestic market.

The 2020 series is available in a few different versions including sedan, estate (station wagon), coupé (sporty 2-door) and cabriolet (2-door convertible).

The high-performance subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz called AMG has also had fun with the C-Class, offering potent V6 bi-turbo engines in the current range.

Production models include:

  • W202 (1993–2000)
  • W203 (2000–2007)
  • W204 (2007–2014)
  • W205 (2014–)

The team here at Auto Studio have repaired many Mercedes C-Class vehicles.  When regularly serviced, the C-Class should remain reliable, comfortable and a great driving car. Generally, they are often cheaper to repair and maintain than their arch-rival the BMW 3 series.

If you own a Mercedes C-Class in Adelaide, here are some common faults you might encounter:

Engine failure

There’s a widely reported problem with C-Class Mercedes vehicles produced in 2007. Electric connections within the engine may have trouble operating which can cause the car to stop working.

Driving sensors

A common fault in Mercedes C-Class vehicles is due to issues with the active driving sensors.  This can cause vibration that affects driving stability. Sensor replacement is often the best solution.

Steering

Issues with Mercedes-Benz C-Class power steering pump and fluid lines can present in a leak. The parts may need replacement – please talk to the team at Auto Studio if you have this issue as it can be dangerous.

Hoses

If you notice less power from the accelerator to the engine, then broken or badly worn air hoses may be the issue.

Brakes

In 2010 models, a fault across the range can cause brakes to be less effective than they should be.  If you own a C-Class from 2010 then we can help with any brake-related issues. Again, please act on any brake issues promptly to avoid potential safety issues.
