VOLKSWAGEN EOS

Volkswagen’s Eos is a compact cabriolet coupé that began production in 2006 and was discontinued in 2015. The two-door convertible was available as both petrol and diesel variants, with a range of engine sizes on the market ranging from 1.4 Litre to 2.0 Litre engines. The main competition for the EOS was BMW’s X3 and Audi’s A3 Cabriolet, though Volkswagens own Golf Cabriolet was also a strong contender.

Common Problems with the Volkswagen EOS

The mechanics at Auto Studio in Adelaide specialise in European cars, and would love to assist you with all your servicing needs. Here are some common problems that you might encounter with your VW Eos.

Excessive Oil Consumption

There have been various cases of Volkswagen engines burning through excessive amounts of oil. If your engine is going through oil faster than it should, it either has a leak or is burning it up, and there are a few common contributing factors. Worn piston rings, bad valve seals, a wearing turbo or your engine is simply running hot. If you have any concern about your car, then we suggest booking in to have once of our professional Volkswagen experts take a closer look at your car.

Timing Chain

It is possible that your timing chain may become loose, in turn resulting in major engine failure and is usually caused by tensioner problems. If you have noticed engine rattles, trouble starting or misfires, or your check engine light has become illuminated, then it could be a sign that your timing chain needs to be looked at. It is important that you don’t delay having your timing chain inspected or replaced, as failure will cause serious problems.

Clock Spring Failure

The clock spring is the key to your steering wheel functions like the horn, volume buttons, airbag and cruise control working. if you are experiencing any problems with the buttons on your steering wheel, or noticed that your horn has stopped working, then it may be to do with a faulty clock spring.
