VOLKSWAGEN JETTA

The Jetta was a premium family car produced by Volkswagen for almost 40 years leading up to its retirement in 2017 when it was replaced by the Arteon. Bigger than the Golf hatchback, the Jetta provided an option for those who wanted a smaller car that could still fit the family in it.

With so many generations released, there is a range of engines you might find under the hood of your car depending on the model. however, the late models could be powered by a 1.4L or. 2.0L petrol or diesel engine. The main competition for the Jetta was the BMW 3-Series, Skoda Octavia and the Audi A4.

Ignition Coil

One common issue with a lot of VW Jetta models can be a failed ignition coil. If you ignition coil is failing you might notice your engine misfiring, decreased power or poor fuel economy, difficulty starting or your check engine light may become illuminated. If you have experienced any of these problems, we suggest booking in with our friendly team and let us take a look for you.

Automatic Transmission

If you have noticed that your engine is shaking or grinding, creates whining or clunking noises, has a burning smell or is leaking fluid then there is a chance that you may have a problem with your automatic transmission. This can be a common problem with the Volkswagen Jetta. So if you have noticed any of these, best to book a service as soon as possible to avoid further damage.

Diesel Particulate Filter

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is responsible for trapping exhaust matter like soot, and in turn helps with your engine emissions, however it can be common for your DPF to become blocked if you’re only doing short drives. You may notice some excess smoke from the exhaust, have a change in engine sound or reduced fuel economy when it is blocked. The simple fix for this is to take your car out on the open road where you can drive at a higher speed and allow the excess buildup to burn off. If you have any concerns about your vehicle though, we always suggest to bring it in and have one of our expert mechanics ensure your vehicle is safe and reliable.
